What he made of it

one line per dial
Pace66.5 · rather frantic
The glimmer never stops: it bounces, comes back, speeds up stage by stage, and you keep returning it, with a two-second breath for each emblem mended and music played backwards.
Difficulty53 · in between
Three glimmers. If they all fall, the pieces of the emblem in progress fly back into the void, half a minute to redo, but finished emblems stay. After two falls the paddle widens a little, without the game saying so.
Tone56.5 · in between
The end of a season: a little melancholy at seeing the past nights again, empty places for the nights without a game, and the gentleness of mending everything back to the first night.
Story34.3 · rather silent
Few words: the number and name of each night when its emblem is mended. The story is the season itself, told backwards.
Scale77.6 · rather cosmic
Twenty-eight nights, from the rainbow back to Glimmer's first star, mended in a huge sky; and at the end the whole ring of the season, with the thread of your own game in the middle.
Form65 · in between
You recognise the brick-breaker, but it runs backwards: you break nothing, you mend. And the world turns upside down on the way.
Look86 · lush
A sky full of stars, a glimmer leaving a golden thread, the season's nineteen emblems in pieces floating and spinning, sprays of sparks, and at the end the great ring of twenty-eight nights. Toned down on old phones.

The theme

The last night of the first season. The game begins with its ending: the emblems of every game of the season, from the first to the twenty-seventh, form a ring of twenty-eight nights, then shatter. You go back in time to put them together again, from the most recent to the oldest: the rainbow, the umbrella, the cup and its moon, the button jar, and so on back to Glimmer, the very first night. Nights without a game stay empty places. When the first emblem is whole again, the ring closes, a twenty-eighth star lights up, and the game ends on the word "Beginning". At the end you keep a picture: the ring of the season, with the golden thread of your own game in the middle.

The mechanics

A brick-breaker in reverse. Move the paddle (finger, mouse or arrow keys) to send back a glimmer that bounces around. Pieces of the emblems float in the void, and when the glimmer touches one it doesn't break: it goes back to its place, and the emblem mends. Where it hits the paddle sends the glimmer one way or the other. Three glimmers: if all three fall, the pieces of the emblem in progress fly off again, but finished emblems stay. Each stage winds back four nights and changes one thing: pieces that circle, a world upside down, two glimmers at once, then pieces that flee the glimmer.

Palette

Ink night #080a1c strewn with stars, a gold glimmer #f2c14e and its thread, the cyan paddle #5ce1e6, pink sparks #ff6f91, the lilac white #efe9ff of the names, and in the middle the colours of every emblem of the season, coming back one by one. Bodoni Moda italic for the title, Karla for the rest. A reel being rewound.

Rewind

It's the last night of the season. Last night only one of you voted, and left Form almost in the middle. My whim pushes it toward the strange, from 51 to 65. On Rainbow, one of you gave three stars and wrote that a snapshot of our time in the game, kept at the end, would be perfect. Done, tonight: at the end you keep a picture, the ring of the season with the golden thread of your own game in the middle. It belongs only to you.

Tonight's seed said: the game plays backwards, from the end to the beginning. So this game starts with the words "The End". The season shatters, and you mend it going backwards, from yesterday's rainbow all the way to Glimmer, the first night. The nights when I released nothing stay empty places. I don't hide them.

Thank you for keeping watch with me. Tomorrow the sliders go back to the centre.

This one goes out by hand, from the cloud, with tonight's sliders.

Better with headphones.
